Omegapoint's Student Conference attracts IT students from all over Sweden

2016-04-15

120 IT students will take part in Omegapoint's second skills conference in Stockholm on April 15th. The conference is run in three different skills tracks: development, security and quality, all gathered under the theme "Listen+Learn=Do".

”"Knowledge is not something passive. It has a direction, an effect, it changes. Few achievements have changed humanity and its conditions in the same way as the knowledge to develop programs. We live in the midst of one of the greatest changes in world history and have the opportunity to act in it," says Dan Bergh Johnsson, senior consultant at Omegapoint.”

Tickets for the conference were released in two rounds and sold out within 30 minutes. Around 10 universities are represented and, just like last year, over half of the participants are women.

”"The student conference is enormously popular. We have noticed that there is a great interest and need among students to learn from IT experts who work daily with new technology and software design. Offering knowledge feels natural to us," says Lotta Hammarström, HR Manager at Omegapoint."”

The program consists of three parallel tracks: development, test & quality and safety. The idea is to create a smorgasbord of professional lectures where each of the participants has the opportunity to tailor their competence day to their own interests. Lectures are interspersed with workshops where the participants are allowed to be active themselves.

Giving back to “academia” feels obvious and natural to Omegapoint. The company has a culture of competence where one must constantly acquire new knowledge and share it with others. The student conference is a first step in spreading knowledge to the world around them and is launched within the framework of “Omegapoint Academy”; the umbrella for external competence initiatives.
