Omegapoint acquires one of Sweden's leading IT consulting companies specializing in eHealth, the pharmaceutical industry and Life Science

Stockholm, Sweden – Omegapoint Group AB – leading expert consultants in information security and secure application development announces that it has today signed an agreement to acquire Qurit AB. Qurit are specialized IT consultants in eHealth, pharmaceuticals and Life Science. Through the acquisition, Omegapoint accelerates the development of the business area: eHealth and pharmaceuticals, to address the rapidly growing need for expert competence in secure application development and IT security in a digitalized healthcare.
”Through the acquisition of Qurit AB, Omegapoint takes a clear position in the market and at the same time builds considerable competence and capacity in a sector where the demand for digitalization and security is growing rapidly,” says Johan Malmliden, President and CEO of Omegapoint Group AB. ”The digitalization of healthcare, health and lifestyle-related issues likely poses some of the greatest challenges for society in the foreseeable future.”
Brief background to the deal
Healthcare is facing major challenges in the world's developed countries: We are getting more numerous, we are living longer and chronic diseases are increasing in the population. We expect an ever higher quality of healthcare and growth means that we have greater financial resources to spend on healthcare, while it is difficult to recruit qualified personnel. Healthcare needs to meet increasing demand by increasing productivity and efficiency in operations.
Most citizens want easier and smoother contact with healthcare and effective communication – digital relationships with healthcare providers; in addition, we want secure digital archives of our health history to get the right care and medication, faster. Most county councils in Sweden are planning to replace their digital medical record systems over the next 5 – 10 years and to drive the digital transformation of healthcare and patient relationships.
”"These very large and complex projects will lead to a large number of projects for the introduction of new systems, adaptations and integration. We will also see increased investments in security and secure system development to protect information and healthcare organizations, but above all individuals and patients," says Johan Malmliden, President and CEO, Omegapoint Group AB.
”"Qurit becoming part of the Omegapoint Group means that we jointly strengthen our current customer offerings in an exciting way. The digitalization of the healthcare sector creates a very exciting but challenging task. Qurit currently has the privilege of working on several strategically important customer projects in pharmaceuticals and eHealth. We currently have good knowledge of how to realize business needs in cost-effective IT solutions but lack the deep knowledge that Omegapoint has in the security area. We currently also have limited capacity and an office a little too far from our important key customers in Stockholm. Omegapoint is therefore the perfect partner for Qurit to take on the digital challenge of healthcare with its associated security requirements," says Patrik Lannergård, CEO and co-founder of Qurit AB.
Qurit will continue to be operated as a subsidiary within Omegapoint Group AB. Qurit's CEO Patrik Lannergård will be part of Omegapoint Group's group management.
The parties have chosen not to disclose or comment on the terms of the deal other than that it is expected to be fully completed by the end of October 2018.

About Qurit AB
Qurit AB was founded in 2011 in Uppsala by six people who had previously worked together in different roles. The common denominator was that all the founders had worked with IT solutions in the pharmaceutical field for a long time.
A common scenario that many of the industry's customers have encountered was that over time they were stuck with a standard system that could not be further developed. The company that delivered the system often lost interest in the customer as soon as the system was operational.
This is where the vision was born to start an IT consulting company that would be a leader in IT related to pharmaceuticals and eHealth and that could also provide an efficient organization where the customer and the project are in focus, and where the methods and tools are continuously re-evaluated.
