Sweden's most secure IT factory opened in Enköping

Enköping continues to strengthen its role as a center for Swedish security. In the spring of 2025, Sweden's most secure IT factory in Stenvreten was inaugurated. The facility, built by Omegapoint's IT security company Basalt, is expected to withstand the most advanced threat actors and is expected to offer hundreds of new jobs in the municipality in the coming years.
Basalt's new IT factory covers 4,000 square meters and is designed with security in mind. Everything from the physical construction of the building and the personnel selection process to production chains is secured through controlled access, traceability and robust technical processes.
– Security is not just about technology, but also about people, processes and culture. In this facility, we can manufacture secure systems that withstand threats from, for example, advanced state-funded actors. This means that we strengthen Sweden's resilience against cyber threats, contribute to a safer society and hopefully attract more talent and specialists to the industry, says Nicklas Haglund, CEO of Basalt.
Enköping has long established itself as a hub for security, not least thanks to the Command Regiment, the new logistics base for NATO troop movements, and a well-developed collaboration between the municipality, the Swedish Armed Forces, and Mälardalen University. In addition, the brand new university of applied sciences program for IT security engineers will open in the fall of 2025.
With the opening of Sweden's most secure IT factory, around 100 new employees are expected to be recruited in the coming years.
– Basalt's investment strengthens both Enköping's business community and our position within IT and security. We are proud that Enköping will now be home to the country's safest IT factory, and that it means new qualified jobs here in the municipality, says Business Director Anna Holmström, Enköping Municipality.
