The electricity grid and energy companies are at the center of hybrid warfare attacks. The energy system we have today consists of both physical electricity grids and virtual 'electricity grids' in the form of Virtual Power Plants. It also includes new energy resources such as grid batteries, home batteries and charging points. Based on experiences from the attack on Ukraine's power grid and a simulated attack on Varberg Energi, we describe the opportunities and challenges of the Virtual Power Plant.
